Call the HOT-LINE 1-800-400-2255

Do-it-yourself projects are popular among homeowners, but whether or not you pay or do-it-yourself you need to call before doing any digging. Calling the hotline will help you to find out where water, underground power lines, or gas lines are on and nearby the property.

Ottawa joined with Ontario One Call in order to offer a singular place to go for this information. This was done because of the 2012 Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act mandate.

Since 2014 the number to call for this information has been 1-800-400-2255. An additional way to obtain the information before starting projects which require digging is by going to www.on1call.com.

The installation of a fence or gate requires this type of knowledge so that everyone stays safe. If any destruction or if anyone is harmed the obligation of repairs and reparations goes to the contractor or homeowner. Knowing if the fence line will run through telephone, television, fiber optics, gas, or water lines is important since there could be a great deal of damage done otherwise.

Knowledge and safety are important so don’t dig without calling!
